Construction Manager

About the role

Careys is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead site operations on major civil engineering projects in Wigan. You will own day‑to‑day delivery from mobilisation through handover, ensuring safety, quality and programme performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site operations to deliver works safely, on time and to specification.
• Manage supervisors, foremen, operatives, subcontractors and supply‑chain partners.
• Oversee construction sequencing, logistics, temporary works and daily briefings.
• Champion health, safety and environment standards, ensuring compliance with SHED, RAMS, CDM and client procedures.
• Maintain QA/QC procedures, support design reviews and technical coordination.
• Monitor labour, plant and production outputs, support budgeting and cost control.
• Identify delays, variations and operational risks early and report progress.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Works Manager on civil engineering projects.
• Strong leadership ability in fast‑paced, operational environments.
• Excellent communication skills with clients, consultants and internal teams.
• Ability to drive performance while maintaining safety and quality standards.
