Construction Quality Manager (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Construction Quality Manager will provide quality assurance and readiness support for a high‑voltage direct current (HVDC) project. Working on‑site five days a week, you will ensure that all construction activities meet contractual, regulatory and technical standards while fostering a culture of quality excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical standards for HVDC converter stations.
• Develop and implement Project Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures.
• Conduct audits of contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and resolve non‑conformances.
• Maintain comprehensive quality documentation to support commissioning and energisation.
• Identify quality‑related risks, lead root‑cause investigations and drive preventive actions.
• Provide clear direction to contractors on quality expectations and monitor their performance.
• Act as the primary contact for quality matters with EPC contractors, OEMs, client representatives and regulators.

Required profile

• Hands‑on construction site experience, preferably on HVDC, substation or high‑voltage projects.
• Experience with National Grid, Scottish Power or similar utility environments; oil & gas background also considered.
• Strong communication skills with suppliers and stakeholders.
