Construction Superintendent - Operations Director

About the role

Mace is seeking an experienced Lead Project Superintendent to act as the senior on‑site client representative for a major regeneration project. This high‑visibility, hands‑on leadership position ensures that construction works are delivered safely, to quality standards, and in line with programme and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the senior client representative on site, providing visible leadership across all site‑based supervision activities.
• Drive main contractor performance on programme, quality, safety, and sequencing through daily engagement and oversight.
• Ensure construction works comply with statutory requirements, approved designs, specifications, and contractual obligations.
• Manage integration of specialist and direct‑let packages, handling complex interfaces, logistics, and site coordination.
• Oversee site logistics, access, and lifting operations in line with the logistics management plan.
• Monitor and report on site progress, risks, quality, and safety performance, escalating issues as required.
• Manage site involvement in commissioning, handover, and defects management activities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for site‑based issue resolution and stakeholder coordination.

Required profile

• Significant experience in site‑based construction supervision on large or complex projects.
• Strong technical construction knowledge with the ability to challenge methodologies and sequencing.
• Proven ability to lead contractors and manage multiple interfaces on live construction sites.
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder and coordination skills.
• Experience supporting commissioning, handover, and defects periods.
