Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry (Falkirk CMHT)

About the role

The NHS Forth Valley is seeking a part‑time Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join its multidisciplinary team in Falkirk. This senior clinical position offers the opportunity to deliver trauma‑informed mental health care across the adult population while contributing to service development and education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adult patients.
• Lead and support the delivery of trauma‑informed psychotherapy services.
• Participate in teaching, training and mentorship of junior staff and medical students.
• Drive patient safety initiatives and service improvement projects.
• Contribute to strategic planning and development of tiered, evidence‑based treatment pathways.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• MRCPsych (or equivalent) qualification.
• Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) obtained or within six months of completion.
• Registration on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of application.
• Evidence of recent academic and professional development.
• Excellent communication, listening and organisational abilities.
