Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult ADHD

About the role

HCRG Care Group is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead and develop its Adult ADHD service. Based at Amesbury Health Centre in Salisbury, you will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and ongoing treatment for adults with ADHD while integrating broader mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnose adult ADHD.
• Develop and deliver personalised treatment plans, including medication and psychosocial interventions.
• Prescribe, titrate and monitor ADHD medication in line with NICE guidance.
• Provide clinical advice to GPs, community teams and other professionals.
• Lead safe discharge planning and coordinate transitions of care.
• Act as clinical lead for the service, shaping strategic direction and service development.
• Supervise and mentor junior medical staff, GPwERs and pharmacists.
• Contribute to teaching, quality‑improvement initiatives and service evaluation.

Required profile

• Qualified Consultant Psychiatrist with a strong interest in adult ADHD.
• Demonstrated experience in assessment, diagnosis and management of ADHD and co‑existing conditions.
• Commitment to patient‑centred care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Leadership experience and ability to supervise junior staff.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of NICE guidelines for ADHD.
• Proficiency in prescribing and monitoring psychiatric medication.
• Clinical leadership and service development capabilities.
