Contracts Manager – Residential Developments (Essex)

About the role

The Contracts Manager will lead the delivery of multiple residential development projects across Essex for a leading 5‑star housebuilder. Reporting to the Construction Director, you will ensure each site is completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support several Site Managers across active developments.
• Drive build programmes and achieve project milestones.
• Maintain exceptional health and safety standards on all sites.
• Monitor build quality and meet customer‑satisfaction targets.
• Oversee labour, subcontractors and supply‑chain performance.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress reviews.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Technical, Sales and Customer Care teams.
• Support operational and financial objectives of the business.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager in volume or premium housebuilding.
• Track record of managing multiple residential developments successfully.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Thorough knowledge of NHBC standards, building regulations and health & safety legislation.
• Ability to motivate teams and drive performance across several sites.
• Relevant construction qualifications and certifications.
