About the role
The Core Subject Teacher will join Reddish Hall School to deliver high‑quality lessons for pupils aged 11‑16 with SEMH and SEND needs. Working on a trauma‑informed, relational basis, you will help students re‑engage with learning, achieve academically and develop skills for future pathways.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver adaptive lessons for KS3 and/or KS4, meeting the diverse needs of SEMH and SEND pupils.
- Teach one or more academic subjects while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
- Use assessment data to inform planning, monitor progress and support accreditation outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with pupils to promote emotional regulation and readiness to learn.
- Apply consistent trauma‑informed and behaviour‑support strategies in line with school policy.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and external professionals for holistic pupil development.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, progress meetings and safeguarding processes.
- Engage in CPD, curriculum development and wider school life.
Required profile
- PGCE, QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (ECTs encouraged to apply).
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
- Experience in a secondary setting or clear readiness to teach 11‑16‑year‑olds.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver adapted lessons for varied learning, communication and emotional needs.
- Experience using positive behaviour support and trauma‑informed approaches.
Required skills
What we offer
- Salary of £39,000 per annum (not pro‑rata).
- Permanent, term‑time‑only contract.
- 37.5‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:00 pm.
