Court of Protection Solicitor – Private Client Law

About the role

We are seeking a Court of Protection Solicitor to join a specialist private client team in Reading. The role involves managing a diverse caseload of deputyship applications, mental capacity matters and safeguarding vulnerable clients, offering both newly qualified and experienced solicitors a rewarding legal practice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit deputyship applications and statutory wills to the Court of Protection.
• Advise clients on mental capacity law, best‑interest decisions and private client matters.
• Draft legal documents and support applications for Court of Protection proceedings.
• Liaise with clients, families, professional deputies and other stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and firm policies.
• Deliver high‑quality client care and build lasting relationships.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor (NQ considered) with an interest or experience in Court of Protection work.
• Strong knowledge of mental capacity law and private client issues.
• Excellent communication and client‑care abilities.
• Proven ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
• Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office.
