Cover Supervisor & Instructor – Southampton Schools

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic Cover Supervisors and Instructors to support secondary schools in Southampton and surrounding areas. You will step into classrooms when the regular teacher is absent, delivering pre‑prepared lessons and keeping students engaged.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pre‑prepared lessons in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt to subject‑specific assignments when required.
• Engage students and ensure they stay on task throughout the session.

Required profile

• UK‑recognised degree.
• Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting young people.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Ability to quickly build rapport with students and staff.
• Current DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Lesson delivery using prepared materials.
• Classroom management techniques.
