Customs Manager

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead customs operations for a well‑established international logistics and supply‑chain organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring compliant, efficient import, export and transit customs activities across multiple sites while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop customs teams across several operational locations.
• Ensure customs declarations are accurate and meet current legislation.
• Promote a culture of compliance, quality and operational excellence.
• Review and improve workflows to boost efficiency and service delivery.
• Act as escalation point for operational and customer‑related customs matters.
• Monitor legislative changes and communicate impacts to teams.
• Support customer retention and business development with expert customs guidance.
• Manage workforce planning, performance reviews, coaching and employee development.
• Produce management information and operational reports for decision‑making.

Required profile

• Significant experience in customs operations, freight forwarding or international trade compliance.
• Previous people‑management experience in a fast‑paced operational environment.
• Strong understanding of UK customs regulations and border compliance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
