Cyber Security Engineer – Government Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to deliver engineering services for both classified and unclassified systems within MOD and Home Office environments. You will design innovative security solutions, maintain required security postures, and collaborate closely with customers and agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide cybersecurity engineering for classified and unclassified computer systems.
• Develop creative solutions to complex technical issues and uphold security postures.
• Work with security monitoring teams to ensure log forwarding to SIEM platforms.
• Design and implement new policies, processes, and procedures in partnership with stakeholders.
• Assess system vulnerabilities, apply risk‑mitigation measures, and test security products.
• Maintain and support security‑enforcing functions across the environment.

Required profile

• Experience working on MOD or Home Office projects.
• Strong knowledge of network and system security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, micro‑segmentation and host security.
• Hands‑on experience with security products such as Trellix, Ivanti, ClearSwift and Yubikey.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and common software vulnerabilities.
• Expertise in identity and access management (IAM) with RBAC and ABAC models.
• Incident detection and response experience within MOD environments.
