Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to deliver engineering services for both classified and unclassified computer systems within MOD and Home Office environments. You will design innovative security solutions, maintain required security postures, and collaborate closely with monitoring teams to ensure effective log forwarding to SIEM platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide cybersecurity engineering services for classified and unclassified systems.
• Develop creative technical solutions and maintain security postures.
• Work with security monitoring teams to ensure logs are forwarded to SIEM capabilities.
• Design and implement policies, processes and procedures in partnership with customers and agencies.
• Assess system vulnerabilities, implement risk mitigation measures and test security products.
• Maintain and support security‑enforcing functions across the environment.

Required profile

• Experience working on MOD or Home Office projects.
• Strong knowledge of network and system security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, micro‑segmentation and host security.
• Hands‑on experience with security products such as Trellix, Ivanti, ClearSwift and Yubikey.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and common vulnerabilities.
• Expertise in identity and access management (IAM) with RBAC and ABAC.
• Incident detection and response experience within MOD environments.
