Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Cyber Security Engineer to join our expanding security team in Altrincham, South Manchester. You will work in a hybrid IT environment, collaborating with infrastructure, cloud and SOC teams to protect critical systems and improve our security posture.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to alerts across SIEM and EDR platforms.
• Manage, tune and maintain firewalls, web‑application firewalls and endpoint protection solutions.
• Investigate security incidents and support incident response activities.
• Perform vulnerability assessments, track remediation and implement security controls in cloud and on‑premise environments.
• Contribute to security policies, standards and procedures.
• Develop and fine‑tune detection rules and support threat‑hunting initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of core security technologies such as NGFW, WAF, EDR and SIEM.
• Experience working in a SOC, security engineering or infrastructure security role.
• Good knowledge of networking concepts and common attack vectors (SQL injection, phishing, malware).
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, incident‑driven environment.
