Data Engineer – Security Clearance (Chippenham)

About the role

As a Data Engineer on a secure defence programme, you will design, build and operate on‑premise data pipelines that feed a SIEM platform built on the Elastic Stack. You will work closely with security, operations and infrastructure specialists to ensure real‑time security insight across complex environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Logstash pipelines for ingesting log data into Elasticsearch.
• Create and manage Apache NiFi flows for routing, transformation and enrichment of diverse log sources.
• Parse and normalise formats such as JSON, CEF, Syslog and Avro.
• Write and optimise Python scripts for data enrichment, automation and alerting.
• Onboard new log sources and improve existing pipelines in collaboration with security and IT teams.
• Document pipeline designs, data standards and operational runbooks.

Required profile

• Experience designing and maintaining data ingestion pipelines for security monitoring.
• Eligibility for UK DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance or existing clearance.
• Ability to work on‑site five days a week in Chippenham.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
