Deputy Chief Nurse – Senior Nursing Leadership Role

About the role

The Deputy Chief Nurse will work closely with the Chief Nurse to drive quality, safety and patient‑centred care across the Trust and its hospital group. This senior leadership position offers the chance to influence strategic direction, strengthen relationships with regulators and champion excellence in clinical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Chief Nurse in delivering the nursing, midwifery and allied health professional strategy.
• Lead quality and safety initiatives, ensuring patient experience remains central.
• Promote high standards of clinical care and professional conduct across the organisation.
• Provide strategic and operational leadership to nursing, midwifery and AHP teams.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other external stakeholders.
• Act as deputy for the Chief Nurse, covering the full portfolio of responsibilities as required.

Required profile

• Extensive senior experience as a nurse, midwife or allied health professional leader.
• Demonstrated ability to inspire teams and drive innovation.
• Strong commitment to patient‑centred care and workforce development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal and external partners.
