Deputy Lifting Manager - Nuclear Project

About the role

EnerMech, a specialist service company delivering safe, integrated solutions for complex energy projects, is looking for a Deputy Lifting Manager to join its UK Low Carbon Nuclear project in Bridgwater, Somerset. The role ensures the site and associated developments comply with lifting arrangements and promotes best practice, establishing and implementing a world-class approach to lifting on the construction site. It is a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the lifting department's activities and resources so that lifting and PC standards and expectations are fully met.
• Set and maintain lifting standards and policies aligned with the risk levels for health, safety, lifting and temporary works, and monitor their delivery on site.
• Make sure department activities, including those of delivery partners and the supply chain, follow NSL arrangements, statutory regulations, company and location directives, procedures and lifting rules, and that operational experience feedback is promoted and used.
• Manage the lifting team to deliver a professional, client-focused service in all aspects of lifting and PC standards and regulatory interfaces.
• Help build a project culture consistent with recognised nuclear safety culture.

Required profile

• CPCS Appointed Persons Blue card (competent operator) and ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads TAP01.
• Ability to establish a vision and develop and implement a strategy to achieve it.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and knowledge of the construction industry.
• A proven track record in nuclear power and good knowledge of large projects and site operations are preferred.

Required skills

• National and international HSE standards, including CDM regulations, LOLER and BS5975.
• Lifting and temporary works standards and regulations.
