Design and Development Engineer

About the role

The Design and Development Engineer will lead the creation and launch of new products for a global industrial manufacturer specialising in electrical and utility infrastructure. Based in Stockport, you will ensure engineering excellence and smooth product introduction across the UK and EU markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and introduction of new products, aligning with project timelines and quality standards.
• Collaborate with design, production, and quality assurance teams to optimise development processes.
• Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
• Coordinate product testing and validation to satisfy customer and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform SAP activities such as raising engineering changes and creating bills of materials.

Required profile

• Proactive, solution‑focused engineering mindset.
• Experience working in cross‑functional, product‑focused environments.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and product development processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• SAP (EC creation, BOM management)
