Design Engineer – Structures

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking a Senior Design Engineer – Structures to lead detailed structural design across a diverse portfolio of commercial, mixed‑use and data‑centre projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of high‑quality, buildable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client liaison and support business development activities.
• Coordinate project delivery, allocate resources and manage design documentation.
• Develop engineering solutions and define design philosophy for each project.
• Produce preliminary and detailed designs for both temporary and permanent works.
• Carry out design checking and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges.

Required profile

• Senior Engineer with proven experience in structural design.
• Ability to take ownership of design packages and deliver them on schedule.
• Strong communication skills for client interaction and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Experience working on commercial, mixed‑use or data‑centre projects is desirable.
