Design Engineer – Structures

About the role

As a Senior Engineer you will take ownership of detailed structural design aligned with project programmes, collaborating closely with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration across the project team. You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial developments, mixed‑use schemes, and data centres.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client liaison and support business development.
• Coordinate project delivery, resources and design documentation.
• Develop engineering solutions and lead design philosophy.
• Produce preliminary and detailed designs for temporary and permanent works.
• Carry out design checking, technical reporting and subcontractor coordination.
• Develop erection schemes and specialist engineering methodologies.
• Support Associates and Associate Directors with resource planning, technical delivery and project coordination.
• Support cost control, fee proposals and project variations.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support to site teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and support team development.

Required profile

• A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a strong interest in structural design.
• Working towards or already chartered with IStructE or ICE.
• Demonstrated experience and competency in structural design.
• Flexibility and initiative to rise to challenging situations.
• Ability to take on responsibility appropriate to capability.
• At least 1 year of project‑lead experience in a client‑facing role.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Eurocodes and relevant design guidance.
• Proficiency in 3D structural design software such as Tekla, Revit, Robot, etc.
