Design Manager

About the role

Hoare Lea is seeking a Design Manager to support its Central region. The role can be based in Cambridge, Oxford or Birmingham and will involve working alongside specialist engineers across acoustics, air quality, MEP, fire, lighting, security and sustainability. You will join a collaborative, high‑performing team that values flexibility, wellbeing and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of design management duties across multiple medium and large‑scale projects.
• Provide design management advice and support to project leads on smaller projects.
• Arrange and facilitate project briefings with the Project Leader, ensuring clear communication of objectives.
• Coordinate internal project communications, including huddles, workshops, meetings and social events.
• Maintain high‑quality design outcomes and uphold Hoare Lea’s reputation as an industry leader.

Required profile

• Proven experience in design management within the built environment or engineering consultancy.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent cultural awareness to support collaborative and inclusive project environments.
• Flexibility to adapt to hybrid working arrangements.
