Design Manager

About the role

The Design Manager will join Kier’s Eastern South team in Witham, Essex, leading the design process on assigned construction projects. You will act as the subject‑matter expert, ensuring design excellence from tender through to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and deliver design information in line with programme schedules.
• Ensure design consultants meet duties, standards and project briefs.
• Assess, mitigate and manage design‑related risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Chair design meetings, produce reports and present to stakeholders.
• Develop design programmes, scopes, responsibility matrices and schedules while complying with health, safety and sustainable building standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a design role within a main‑contractor environment.
• Relevant construction qualification (Degree/HND or equivalent) in Architecture, Construction Management or Engineering.
• Experience of BIM Level 2 projects, including COBie data.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong stakeholder management skills.
• Full driving licence.
