Design & Quality Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Design & Quality Engineer to join our Plant & Fleet department, supporting the delivery of essential infrastructure services across water, energy, transport and telecom. You will work closely with the innovation team to create and improve equipment designs while ensuring safety, compliance and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Support the innovation team by producing detailed technical drawings for new equipment designs, adhering to engineering and organisational standards.
• Perform reverse engineering of existing plant and equipment to facilitate improvements, maintenance and replication.
• Ensure Plant & Equipment designs meet customer requirements and obtain approval from the Plant & Fleet specification panel.
• Maintain operational processes and procedures to guarantee compliance, clarity and consistency.
• Produce method statements, task risk assessments and work packs for overhead line construction, maintenance and refurbishment in line with industry and client standards.
• Identify, assess and control risks associated with working at height, live lines, induced voltages, lifting operations and access/egress requirements.

Required profile

• Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Strong engineering background with experience in the overhead lines sector.

Required skills

• High‑level proficiency in CAD, particularly SolidWorks.
