Design Technology Technician – Secondary School Workshop

About the role

The school is seeking a Design Technology Technician to support practical learning in its modern Design Technology department. You will ensure the workshop runs smoothly, safely, and is ready for daily lessons.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical lessons.
• Maintain workshop machinery and enforce health & safety regulations.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions as required.
• Manage stock levels, order consumables and keep inventories up‑to‑date.
• Keep the workshop organised, safe and efficient.
• Support the creation of displays and departmental resources.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Design Technology workshop, engineering environment or educational setting.
• Good knowledge of workshop tools, machinery and health & safety procedures.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Proactive, reliable and enthusiastic about supporting students and staff.
