Disease Area Lead - Ophthalmology (Squad Lead)

About the role

Roche Pharma UK is looking for a Squad Lead for its Ophthalmology disease area, a key strategic priority for the UK business. Within the company's agile framework, the role is titled Squad Lead and sits in the Strategy Cluster. The incumbent leads a cross-functional Squad with end-to-end accountability for the commercial success of the medicines in this area, while also acting as a VACC leader at affiliate level.

Key responsibilities

• Set a high-reaching vision and strategy for the squad, drawing on insights from stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Deliver patient uptake performance in line with ambition, within appropriate profit-and-loss guard rails.
• Practice the VACC leadership model (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) to unite people around a common purpose and foster growth.
• Manage squad outcomes and resource requirements with an enterprise mindset, aligned to squad and portfolio priorities.
• Act as a preferred partner for clinical and non-clinical influencers, mobilising the network quickly to meet urgent needs.
• Recruit, coach and retain talent so team members grow in line with their passions and organisational needs.
• Uphold high standards of safety and ethics, putting the patient at the centre of every decision.
• Shape disease area strategy and execution at a system level with other Squad Leads, the UK leadership team and above-affiliate environments.

Required profile

• High-potential leader able to lead on disease area strategy for an increasingly diverse Ophthalmology portfolio.
• Ability to simplify complex data into a clear, compelling narrative for senior leadership, internal teams and external stakeholders.
• A mindset focused on continuous learning and quick adaptation to external insights.
