Domestic Assistant – Part-time Hospital Cleaner

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Domestic Assistant to provide cleaning and domestic services across clinical and non‑clinical areas of hospitals and health centres within NHS Scotland. The role works evening shifts, contributing to a safe, hygienic environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a range of domestic services, including cleaning, waste disposal and linen handling, in all hospital and health‑centre departments.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, Health & Safety legislation and infection‑control protocols.
• Follow Audit Scotland and HAI task‑force requirements and the National Cleaning Services Specification.
• Maintain equipment and report any issues or hazards promptly.
• Work scheduled shifts: Monday‑Thursday 17:00‑20:00 and Friday 17:00‑19:24 (back‑shift).

Required profile

• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
• Commitment to health, safety and infection‑control standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team during evening hours.
• Good communication skills and a respectful attitude towards patients and colleagues.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cleaning procedures and use of cleaning equipment.
• Familiarity with Health & Safety and infection‑control guidelines.
• Ability to follow written specifications and record‑keeping requirements.
