Electrical Project Manager / Project Lead

About the role

This is a permanent, full-time Electrical Project Manager / Project Lead position based in Bridgwater, Somerset. You will work for the main contractor and manage the sub-contractor works so that each package of work meets its deadlines. The project is a major investment in advanced manufacturing and clean-energy infrastructure, involving a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage, with complex MEP installations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical projects from design through to installation, commissioning and handover.
• Manage project programmes, budgets, resources and deliverables.
• Coordinate engineering teams, subcontractors, contractors, suppliers and site activities.
• Oversee electrical designs, technical specifications and compliance with relevant standards.
• Monitor progress, risks, costs and quality.
• Liaise with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Resolve technical issues and coordinate interfaces with other disciplines.
• Ensure health, safety and quality requirements are met throughout delivery.
• Support procurement, commissioning and final handover.

Required profile

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering, or NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds qualification in an electrical installation or engineering discipline.
• Desirable: BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Desirable: CSCS manager-level card and SMSTS.
• Previous experience in electrical site management or supervision, ideally in commercial or construction projects.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of electrical installation, testing and commissioning.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).
