Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++) – £70/hr Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a leading defence client on a 6‑month contract in Bristol. You will work onsite, performing verification and validation of real‑time embedded software that runs on electro‑mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out Verification & Validation (V&V) activities for embedded software applications.
• Translate software requirements into detailed test cases and structured test procedures.
• Prepare, execute and document software tests, capturing accurate data for analysis.
• Provide clear feedback to engineering and project teams to drive software quality improvements.
• Investigate issues, troubleshoot complex problems and support software integration.
• Test embedded software on electro‑mechanical products within a laboratory environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering V&V activities in an embedded software setting.
• Strong analytical and methodical debugging skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, especially for technical documentation.
• Hands‑on experience testing embedded software on electro‑mechanical products.
• Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
