Employment and Skills Trainer

About the role

The Employment and Skills Trainer will deliver intensive, personalised support to Universal Credit claimants on the Restart Scheme, helping them overcome barriers to work and secure sustained employment. This full‑time, permanent position is based in Hastings and offers the chance to make a tangible difference in the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and evaluate training sessions for adult learners.
• Assess participant progress and provide constructive performance feedback.
• Maintain a professional classroom environment and manage group dynamics.
• Promote courses to internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with the team to meet strict targets and support the Restart Scheme objectives.
• Travel locally as needed to deliver training or meet learners and employers.

Required profile

• Engaging personality with high energy and strong communication skills.
• Background in training, L&D, retail training, or teaching at school/college level.
• Passion for adult education and understanding of welfare‑to‑work challenges.
• Recognised teaching qualification (PTTLS, PGCE) or willingness to undertake funded training.
• Minimum 2 A‑Levels or equivalent Level 3 Diploma; GCSE English Language at grade B or equivalent.
• Ability to work to strict targets and with diverse backgrounds.
