About the role
This position offers a recent English graduate the chance to gain hands‑on experience in a welcoming secondary school environment. You will work closely with the English department to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them access the curriculum and build confidence.
Key responsibilities
- Assist SEN pupils during English lessons, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group support.
- Collaborate with experienced teachers to deliver engaging literacy activities.
- Deliver targeted interventions for students with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Speech & Language difficulties.
- Support the development of reading comprehension, writing, spelling and grammar skills.
- Encourage independence, confidence and active participation in class.
Required profile
- Degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, Journalism or a related subject.
- Strong passion for education and supporting young people.
- Interest in teaching, SEND, educational psychology or pastoral care.
- Experience working with children or young people (paid or voluntary).
