About the role
Bournemouth & Poole College is seeking enthusiastic English Lecturers to join either the Poole or Bournemouth campus. The role involves delivering high‑quality GCSE and Functional Skills English, creating inclusive learning environments, and supporting students to progress to further education, apprenticeships or employment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and assess engaging English lessons for GCSE and Functional Skills learners.
- Provide constructive feedback and track student progress, intervening when necessary.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support student recruitment, enrichment activities and progression pathways.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages confidence and resilience.
Required profile
- A degree in English or a related subject.
- A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
- Experience teaching GCSE and/or Functional Skills English (desirable).
- Strong organisational and classroom‑management abilities.
- Commitment to inclusive practice, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Required skills
- Proficiency with digital learning tools and technology.
