English Teacher – Secondary School (Permanent)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic English teacher to join a well‑established secondary academy in Kingston. The role is permanent and offers the chance to inspire Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils, contributing to a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, challenging English lessons in line with the national curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Employ a variety of teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs and promote progress and attainment.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the English department and the wider school to enhance curriculum delivery.
• Promote positive behaviour, high expectations, and a culture of wellbeing, safeguarding and inclusion.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for developing students’ English skills.
• Excellent classroom management and the ability to engage and motivate pupils.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Proactive approach to professional development and teamwork.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of the English national curriculum.
• Effective use of assessment data to inform teaching.
• Strong classroom management techniques.
