Environmental Permitting Manager (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Tarmac is seeking an Environmental Permitting Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to join its Land and Natural Resources team. Based in Quorn, Leicestershire, you will support quarries, concrete, asphalt and block plants by securing the necessary land, air and water permits and licences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice on permits and licences for new and existing operations, working closely with Operational, Strategic Planning and Circularity teams.
• Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of a wide range of permit and licence applications.
• Monitor regulatory changes, assess impact on existing permits and advise the business on compliance actions.
• Offer expert guidance on technical issues related to permit conditions and environmental legislation.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, including the Environment Agency.

Required profile

• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Self‑starter with proven project‑management ability.
• Relevant degree in an environmental or scientific discipline.
• Practical experience managing permit applications within the minerals, waste or water sectors.
