Estate Services Operative – Community Cleaning

About the role

The Estate Services Operative joins a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of communal areas across Poplar HARCA properties in London. Working on a rotating schedule, you will help ensure that residents and visitors experience a safe, well‑kept environment.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, wash and clean communal staircases, foyers, balconies, passages, courtyards, car parks and hard‑standing areas.
• Clean lift car interiors, lamp shades, estate signs, furniture and other shared fixtures.
• Remove and dispose of overspill, bulk refuse and rotate refuse containers to prevent spillage.
• Empty and clean litter bins, waste receptacles and refuse storage rooms.
• Clear weeds, graffiti, snow and leaves; apply salt or other approved methods on hard surfaces.
• Maintain grassed areas and ensure cleaning equipment is cared for.
• Report any health, safety or security concerns promptly to senior staff.

Required profile

• Ability to follow written instructions and guidance from supervisors.
• Willingness to work a 7‑hour day within core hours (8 am‑6 pm) on a rota, including one weekend in four.
• Commitment to adhere to Poplar HARCA policies, health and safety standards and cleaning best practices.
