Executive Director – Strategic Leadership Role

About the role

We are seeking an Executive Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for Made in Hackney, a nonprofit focused on plant‑centred eating, sustainability and community cohesion. Working closely with the Board, you will drive impact, financial sustainability and organisational resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the organisation’s five‑year strategic plan.
• Oversee fundraising, income generation and financial management to ensure long‑term sustainability.
• Ensure robust governance in partnership with the Board of Trustees.
• Manage and inspire a diverse team, including heads of Development, Operations & Programmes and Finance.
• Foster an inclusive culture and champion the mission around plant‑based living and environmental justice.
• Monitor and evaluate impact, delivering measurable outcomes and growth in reach.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a nonprofit or mission‑driven organisation.
• Track record of successful fundraising and financial stewardship.
• Experience working with a Board of Trustees and ensuring good governance.
• Strong ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Passion for plant‑centred diets, sustainability and community cohesion.

Required skills

What we offer

• Salary £50,000‑£55,000 per annum.
• Hybrid working (London office and home‑based).
• 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
• Employer pension contribution of 4%.
• Permanent contract with a probationary period.
