Family Court Adviser – CAFCASS (Newcastle)

About the role

The Family Court Adviser will provide advanced social work support to children, families and courts in family proceedings, ensuring child welfare remains central to decision‑making. Working for CAFCASS in Newcastle, you will assess risk, analyse complex cases and advise the court on protection concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced social work case analysis of each child's circumstances.
• Assist the court in reaching timely conclusions and the best outcomes for children.
• Comply with family court orders and carry out enquiries in line with legislation and court rules.
• Develop and monitor child‑focused plans of work, reviewing them as needed.
• Arrange legal representation for children where required and collaborate with partner agencies.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in legislation, policies, procedures and best practice.

Required profile

• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in social work.
• Experience working within family court settings.
• Strong communication, negotiation and case‑management abilities.
• Registration with Social Work England.
• Degree in Social Work.
