FEED Area Engineering Manager

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced FEED Area Engineering Manager to support the Design Services Alliance (DSA) at Sellafield. The role covers the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of major nuclear programmes, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams from project conception through to Gate 2 / Single Preferred Solution. It is a hybrid position with Sellafield site attendance as required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through FEED activities across multiple projects and define and mature engineering scope from concept through Gate 2.
• Develop engineering strategies aligned to programme and business objectives, ensuring solutions are safe, legally compliant, proportionate and fit for purpose.
• Lead engineering integration across all disciplines and act as the engineering focal point for allocated programmes.
• Lead project definition activities: scope definition, requirements management, functional specification, optioneering, value management, TRL assessments, engineering substantiation and delivery strategy.
• Develop projects to the maturity needed for transition to detailed design, covering Gate 0-2 mobilisation activities.
• Work with Sellafield Programme teams, Project Engineering Managers, Safety Case teams, Operations, Construction, Commissioning, Technical Authorities and Subject Matter Experts to reach consensus on technical solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer (or working towards) and membership of a recognised professional institution.
• Significant engineering leadership experience in a highly regulated industry, leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience delivering FEED, concept, feasibility, appraisal or optioneering phases of major capital projects.
• Experience developing engineering requirements and managing scope, cost, schedule and technical risk.
• Strong stakeholder management and influence with senior technical and programme stakeholders.
