Field Engineer – Break Fix

About the role

Gigaclear is seeking a Field Engineer to join its Break Fix team on the FTTH/FTTP network. You will work on both traditional underground and PIA overhead installations, ensuring repairs meet the company’s high standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver allocated Break Fix schedules safely, on time and to specification.
• Diagnose and repair faults on buried, underground and PIA overhead fibre infrastructure.
• Perform first‑line response on overhead poles and provide feedback for contractor instructions.
• Carry out fibre splicing and testing to verify network integrity.
• Maintain quality, health and safety standards for yourself and any team members.

Required profile

• Background in civils, fibre or telecoms, preferably with FTTH/FTTP experience.
• Proven experience in installation, fault fixing, repair or maintenance of fibre networks.
• Ability to interpret risk and method assessments and work to NRSWA, SROH and related specifications.
• Full manual driving licence held for at least 12 months and ability to pass DBS check.

Required skills

• Fibre splicing and testing.
• Network troubleshooting on FTTH/FTTP systems.
• Understanding of civil engineering specifications for underground and overhead works.
• Knowledge of NRSWA compliance.
