Field Service Engineer (London)

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer you will be the face of the business, delivering first‑class after‑sales support to customers operating some of the UK’s most advanced buses. You will build lasting relationships, troubleshoot technical issues and help keep vehicles running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using industry‑standard diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
• Provide on‑site technical support to customers and complete warranty and campaign repairs to the highest standard.
• Identify root causes and feed technical information back to the engineering team.
• Estimate repair costs and support the Parts & Service team.
• Promote service solutions and genuine parts where appropriate.
• Collaborate closely with Regional Service Managers and customer workshops.
• Travel between customer sites and attend factory training or support other locations as required.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds qualification in Heavy Vehicle or PSV Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a heavy‑vehicle/PSV environment, dealership or fleet operation.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding abilities.
• Willingness to travel and occasional overnight stays.

Required skills

• Heavy vehicle engineering (NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds).
• Mechanical fault diagnosis.

• Use of diagnostic equipment.
