Finance Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to join a well‑established organisation in Chelmsford. The role offers ownership of the finance function and exposure to both operational and group finance within a fast‑moving, growth‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the finance team in preparing accurate monthly management accounts for the trading business and group entities.
• Produce consolidated financial reports for the Group on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Coordinate the annual statutory audit and act as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Develop financial forecasts, budgets and long‑term models to support business planning.
• Monitor performance against budgets, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage inter‑company transactions, balances and funding arrangements.
• Mentor and develop the finance team in line with business growth.
• Partner with the Finance Director and senior stakeholders to improve processes, reporting and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or in final stages of qualification).
• Proven experience in financial control within a multi‑entity or group structure.
• Experience with group consolidations, statutory reporting and audit coordination.
• Strong analytical mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
