Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join a values‑led, people‑focused business in Bath. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will own the financial accounting, reporting and control processes, ensuring accurate and timely information for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and lead the month‑end close process.
• Prepare and review journals, including accruals, pre‑payments, depreciation and adjustments.
• Produce monthly management accounts, variance analysis and KPI reporting.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate the annual audit.
• Act as the primary contact for external auditors.
• Oversee accounts payable and supervise junior finance team members.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and VAT compliance.
• Identify and implement process and control improvements.
• Support finance system enhancements and drive best practice in financial governance.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification (QBE considered).
• Strong financial accounting and month‑end reporting experience.
• Experience preparing year‑end audits and statutory accounts.
• Expertise in balance‑sheet reconciliation and financial controls.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
• Advanced Excel and finance systems proficiency.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
