Financial Control Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Control Manager to oversee financial reporting, statutory compliance and internal controls for B&Q’s Southampton Store Support Office, ensuring the integrity and reliability of financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Lead accurate and timely monthly and year‑end financial reporting to Group, adhering to accounting standards and the Group Reporting Manual.
• Manage the statutory accounts process for individual entities, meeting deadlines and supporting local board meetings.
• Conduct formal balance‑sheet reviews with the Finance Director quarterly and provide half‑year analytical reviews for all B&Q entities.
• Review and sign‑off balance‑sheet accounts in line with internal frameworks.
• Partner with wider finance teams on significant accounting matters and business initiatives, providing technical expertise.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and strengthen controls.
• Manage the external audit of B&Q and statutory entities, ensuring timely delivery of information and stakeholder updates.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with post‑qualification experience in a similar role, preferably in retail.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and technical accounting, with audit experience.
• High attention to detail, accuracy and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels.
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
