Financial Controller

About the role

This position reports directly to the Finance Director of a fast‑growing, profitable retail business. You will ensure robust financial controls are in place while supporting the achievement of strategic objectives. The role also includes managing a small finance team and working closely with non‑finance colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Own all aspects of financial reporting, including month‑end, flash management accounts and monthly management accounts with variance analysis.
• Develop and maintain controls and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts and analyse variances.
• Ensure all statutory deadlines are met under FRS and manage the year‑end audit process.
• Partner with non‑finance teams to provide robust business insights.
• Assist in preparing the monthly board pack, monthly forecast and annual budget pack.
• Manage the day‑to‑day activities of the transactional finance team.
• Participate in ad‑hoc project work as required.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or overseas equivalent).
• Post‑qualified experience in a Finance Manager, Controller or SME Finance Director role.
• Strong communication skills with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
