Financial Controlling Manager

About the role

The Financial Controlling Manager will report to the Finance Director of a global engineering organisation. The role is responsible for overseeing financial control processes, ensuring accurate reporting, budgeting and strategic financial planning to support business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Lead the month‑end reporting process, ensuring timely closure of accounts and posting of journal entries (depreciation, warranty, accruals).
• Prepare and analyse management reports, KPIs and budget‑vs‑actual performance.
• Liaise with external auditors and act as primary contact during audit engagements.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset register, ensuring correct capitalisation, valuation and depreciation.
• Calculate and record customer rebates, ensuring accurate credit notes and accruals.
• Conduct periodic stock reconciliations, support inventory valuation and minimise write‑offs.
• Perform gross margin analysis, identify drivers and provide actionable recommendations.
• Support annual budget preparation and forecasting activities.

Required profile

• Experienced finance professional with a strong background in financial controlling.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Solid understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
• Experience working with auditors and handling statutory filings.
• Ability to analyse financial data, produce insightful reports and support strategic decisions.
