Fleet Manager – Workshop & Fleet Operations

About the role

Pollock Scotrans Ltd is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to lead the workshop and fleet management team at its Bathgate depot. You will be responsible for ensuring vehicle and trailer compliance, overseeing maintenance activities, and driving cost‑effective initiatives across the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles and trailers to manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure legal compliance for all internal fleet maintenance.
• Document, communicate and standardise workshop processes.
• Monitor and manage external maintenance suppliers.
• Review centrally tracked data on repair & maintenance packages, including refrigeration expiry and mileage.
• Initiate and manage all fleet warranties.
• Identify and implement initiatives to reduce repair, maintenance and damage costs.
• Manage relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers.
• Collaborate with parts suppliers and OEMs to optimise part life‑cycles and costs.
• Maintain health and safety compliant workshop conditions.
• Oversee workshop utilisation, productivity and staffing levels.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and quarterly reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a busy workshop.
• Qualified LGV Technician up to Level 3 (Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair) – advantageous.
• Commercial awareness with P&L accountability.
• Strong knowledge of the transport industry, including O licence.
• Track record of leading successful change.
• Experience in customer relationship management.
• Demonstrated management and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

• Competitive salary £35,000‑£48,000 per annum (depending on experience).
