Gas Engineer

About the role

Axis CLC is seeking a skilled Gas Engineer to join its housing maintenance team in Chelmsford. You will deliver high‑quality gas servicing, emergency repairs and compliance inspections for residential properties, supporting safe and comfortable homes for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency and reactive gas repair works, diagnosing and fixing faults efficiently.
• Maintain a high first‑time‑fix rate while meeting safety and quality standards.
• Carry out gas safety checks and compliance inspections in line with current regulations.
• Support void property works, ensuring gas systems are safe and ready for re‑let.
• Perform remedial works and system upgrades as required.
• Accurately complete PDA/job documentation and record all work promptly.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Domestic Gas Engineer in repairs, maintenance or voids environments.
• Relevant qualifications such as CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1 and CKR1.
• Strong customer service and communication skills, able to work sensitively in occupied homes.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and manage time effectively.
• Full, clean UK driving licence (minor motoring convictions accepted).
