General Manager – Fitness Club

About the role

As a General Manager you will lead the overall performance of the JD Gyms club in Chester, creating a positive environment for both colleagues and members while driving operational excellence, membership growth and commercial success.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, Company Procedures Handbook and JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly safety checks and address any defects.
• Recruit, manage and develop a team of Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to meet daily operational expectations.
• Hold regular team meetings to support development and communication.
• Achieve sales and membership targets and maximise secondary spending revenue.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness across the facility and oversee in‑house cleaners.
• Manage weekly banking processes to minimise wastage and maximise profit.
• Uphold uniform standards for all team members and deliver outstanding member service.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading teams and managing operations in leisure, fitness, hospitality or a customer‑focused environment.
• Strong commitment to delivering excellent member service.
• Track record of contributing to membership growth, commercial performance and local marketing initiatives.
• Experience in recruiting, supporting and developing colleagues.
