General Practitioner – Urgent Care & Emergency Medicine

About the role
We are looking for an experienced General Practitioner to join our busy Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at The Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. Working in a modern central London hospital, you will deliver acute medicine in a fast‑paced environment while supporting a charitable mission that funds an on‑site hospice.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality clinical care in line with hospital and UCC policies.
- Assess and manage urgent and acute presentations, including minor injuries, acute illness and early emergency cases.
- Lead or support paediatric resuscitation and emergency response when required.
- Mentor and support nursing colleagues on each shift.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records and documentation.
- Participate in audits, service‑improvement projects and governance initiatives.
- Promote a culture of patient‑centred care, safety and continuous learning.
Required profile
- GMC registration with a licence to practise and inclusion on the GP Register.
- Experience in General Practice, Urgent Care, Minor Illness or A&E.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to CPD and ongoing professional development.
- Excellent communication and a patient‑focused approach.
Required skills
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) certification.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
