Geotechnical Engineer – £35k-£40k – Wigan

About the role

We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy in Wigan. You will work on a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial projects, developing both technical and project‑management expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage ground investigation programmes.
• Interpret ground investigation data and laboratory test results.
• Produce geotechnical assessment reports and foundation design recommendations.
• Carry out slope stability, earthworks and settlement assessments.
• Support geo‑environmental and contaminated land assessments.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies.
• Assist project management to ensure timely, on‑budget delivery and mentor junior staff where required.

Required profile

• Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a geotechnical or multidisciplinary consultancy.
• Strong report‑writing and technical interpretation abilities.
• Understanding of geotechnical design principles and site investigation practices.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
