Graduate Legal Assistant – Information Governance

About the role

A Legal 500 recognised law firm is recruiting a Graduate Legal Assistant for its specialist Information Governance team on the outskirts of Rochdale. The role supports schools, academies and public sector organisations with data protection matters, and offers full training. A law degree is not essential.

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyse and redact documents for Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
• Draft professional correspondence and legal documentation
• Support the wider Data Protection team with live client matters
• Build relationships with clients across the education and public sectors
• Manage your own workload to strict service standards and deadlines
• Handle confidential and sensitive information accurately and professionally

Required profile

• Recent graduate or due to graduate this year in any degree discipline
• Interest in a long-term career in the legal sector
• Law degree not required; graduates from Psychology, Business Management, Criminology, English, History and similar subjects are welcome
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Confident written and verbal communicator, analytical and methodical
• Professional, reliable and able to handle confidential information
