Private Client Trainee Solicitor

About the role

An expanding Private Client department is looking for a trainee solicitor to join a friendly team of solicitors. The successful candidate can choose to work at either the Hartlepool or Peterlee office. The role is full-time and permanent, with salary to be agreed depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
• Handle Probate and Court of Protection work
• Work on Trusts
• Gain experience in conveyancing work

Required profile

• A law degree with the Legal Practice Course completed, or via the SQE route (contribution towards SQE exams negotiable)
• Good knowledge of and/or experience in Private Client work; previous experience in all aspects of Private Client work is advantageous
• Conveyancing experience preferable but not essential
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organised and methodical, with attention to detail
• Polite, practical attitude, especially when meeting clients
• Committed, self-motivated and able to work as part of a team

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of IT systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge and experience of using a legal case management system
